Dan Kirk and Tina Bartholomew, both of Danville, were the overall male and female finishers, respectively, in
the 8th Annual 5K Race for Women’s Health held Saturday, April 28. Dan and Tina took home the Betsey Reicherter Memorial
Awards for their first place finishes. The award is named in memory of a former Board Chairperson of Family Planning Plus.
Dan ran a 17:49 and Tina’s time was 19:36.
Glenn Knight won the Mid-Pack Finisher Award, placing 50th in a field
of 100 runners. Glenn ran a 25:11 and was first in his age group (14 and under). Glenn’s award is named in memory of
Carrie Smith-Belleson, a dedicated advocate for women’s health issues.
Sonia Crane won the Rookie Award, placing
13th in a field of 100 runners. Sonia also came in first in her age group with a time of 21:09. Sonia’s award is named
in memory of Cathy Ebright, a cancer survivor who tragically lost her life in an accident last year. Cathy’s first 5K
was the Race for Women’s Health.
The runners were graced with comfortably cool temperatures for the race which
benefits Family Planning Plus, serving family health care needs in five Central PA counties. Over $10,000 was raised from
corporate sponsorships, donations, and entry fees.
